Focus and Scope
Epiphany, Journal of Transdisciplinary Studies is double-blind peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the promotion of scholarly publication in humanities and social sciences. Epiphany is a biannual publication affiliated to Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, at the International University of Sarajevo in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The journal aims to promote transdisciplinary studies that cross many disciplinary boundaries to create a holistic approach. It refers to concepts or field research methods originally developed in one discipline, but now widely used by other disciplines in the area of humanities and social sciences including anthropology, philosophy, economics, media studies, history, psychology, sociology, visual and performing arts, literature, technology and cultural studies. Our mission is to provide the global academic community with a comprehensive and unique synthesis of different areas and spectra of knowledge. Our ultimate aim is to create both a holistic and all-embracing approach to humanities and social sciences.

Peer Review Process
Epiphany, Journal of Transdisciplinary Studies applies double-blind peer-review. Reviewer selection for each submitted article is up to section editors, and reviewers are selected bades on the previous experience, competence, and previous experience in reviewing papers for Epiphany.
Every submitted article is read by section editor, at least, for an initial review. If the paper reachs minimum quality criteria, follows the scope and aims of the Journal and fullfils the Editorial policies, it is sent to two reviewers for evaluation. Epiphany uses double-blind peer review.
The reviewers evaluate the paper according to the Review guidelines set by editorial board members and return it to the section editors, who pass the reviewers' anonymous comments back to the author. Anonymity is strictly maintained.
The double-blind peer-review process is managed using this OJS software platform.
Publication Frequency
Epiphany - Journal of Transdisciplinary Studies is published twice a year, in spring and fall.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
Journal Ethics and Malpractice Statement
Epiphany: Journal of Transdisciplinary Studies is committed to ensure and uphold the integrity of all published articles, whereby such values also rely on editors, reviewers, contributors and authors who are expected to behave ethically. The following ethical guidelines are only intended to give a broad overview but if you have any questions or concerns please also feel free to contact the Editor of the Journal, or you can email us at epiphany@ius.edu.ba.
Epiphany is committed to:
- maintain the editorial independence of journal editors;
- support journal editors in ethical and academic matters;
- ensure critical and objective assessment of all articles by reviewers and referees;
- keep an accurate and transparent record, including publishing corrections and retractions when necessary.
Authors should ensure that:
- their work is original and authored by them;
- their work submitted to the Epiphany has not been previously published;
- original ideas, data, findings and materials taken from other sources (including their own published writing) are properly documented and cited;
- their work does not violate any rights of others, including privacy rights and intellectual property rights;
- their data is their won, true and not manipulated;
- any real or apparent conflicting or competing interest is clearly stated to the Epiphany, including funding of the research and article;
- they adhere to all research ethics guidelines of their discipline;
- they contact the Editor to identify and correct any errors prior or subsequent to publication of their work;
- authorship and/or co-authorship of the paper is accurately represented.
Reviewers must:
- keep the confidentiality of the review process;
- alert the Epiphany of any competing interest that could affect the impartiality of their reviewing;
- conduct themselves fairly and impartially;
- act objectively and fairly in reviewing submitted articles.
Editors should:
- promote consistent ethical policies of Epiphany;
- enforce policies in a fair and consistent manner;
- ensure the confidentiality of the reviewing process;
- uphold integrity in their work as editors of the journal, doing away with any personal interest or gain;
- work with authors, reviewers, and the Editorial Board members to ensure the implementation of journals’ ethics and publishing policies.
Originality and Plagiarism Policy
Authors by submitting their manuscript to the Epiphany declare that their work is original and authored by them, their work submitted to the Epiphany has not been previously published, original ideas, data, findings and materials taken from other sources (including their own published writing) are properly documented and cited, their work does not violate any rights of others, including privacy rights and intellectual property rights, their data is their won, true and not manipulated. Plagiarism in whole or in part without proper citation is not tolerated by the Journal. Manuscripts submitted to the journal will be checked for originality using anti-plagiarism software.
